The bucket is on. Now you need the pallet forks.

Get off the tractor. Pull one pin. Fight with the second one. Get back in the cab. Move ahead an inch. Too far. Back out again. Grab the hammer. Say something we probably shouldn't print on the Agri-Can blog.

Success! The forks are finally on.

Two hours later, you need the bucket again.

For plenty of older tractor loaders, this is still a perfectly normal day at work.

Five minutes isn't the problem

Changing a pin-on attachment once isn't a major inconvenience.

Do it several times while switching between a bucket, pallet forks, bale spear and other implements, however, and all those little jobs start adding up. There is aligning the loader arms, handling the pins, climbing back into the tractor, repositioning it and discovering that you're still half an inch off.

Then comes another familiar farm-yard decision:

“Forget it. I'll just do it with the bucket.”

Sometimes avoiding an attachment change creates more work than the change itself.

Old loaders can learn new tricks

Buying another tractor just to get a quick-attach loader would certainly solve the problem.

It may also be the world's most expensive quick-attach conversion!

A considerably simpler option for compatible loaders is the Agri-Can AC2065 conversion harness. It converts most compatible conventional front-end loaders to an ALÖ Euro quick-attach system, uses mechanical locking and is designed as a permanent installation without modifying the loader itself. Its listed maximum capacity is 4,400 lb / 2,000 kg. Loader dimensions and compatibility still need to be checked before installation.

Of course, converting the loader is only half of the equation.

Your attachments need to speak the same language

Buckets, forks and other suitable implements can also be converted to the ALÖ Euro connection.

Agri-Can's AC2101 weld-on bracket set includes left- and right-hand brackets with forged steel hooks and eyes. Once compatible attachments use the same mounting system, swapping implements becomes a much simpler part of the job.

And that's really the point.

The best attachment is the one you'll actually use

A quick-attach system won't add horsepower to your tractor.

It won't make the hay grow faster either.

What it can do is remove one irritating step between “I should put the forks on” and “the forks are on.”

When a loader does several different jobs in the same day, eliminating that little argument with pins, alignment and a hammer can make a surprisingly big difference.

Your chiropractor may not appreciate the upgrade.

Your hammer might finally get a little vacation...
