The Nord-Lock M20 double lock washer is designed to securely lock bolted joints exposed to severe vibration and dynamic loads. Its wedge-locking system prevents bolt loosening while maintaining a controlled preload in the joint.

The serrated outer surfaces grip the contact material, while the internal wedge-shaped cams create a mechanical locking effect. Because the cam angle is greater than the pitch angle of the bolt thread, any loosening movement increases tension in the joint rather than allowing the bolt or nut to rotate loose.
